New design thinking meets high functionality for a winning combination in contract furnishings:
Renowned
designer Yves Behar of fuseproject has created a bold collection of
lounge, reception and private sitting area furnishings for contract
furniture manufacturer HBF. The clean lines and contemporary styling
of the C Collection integrates practical features such as supreme
comfort, pull up work surfaces and complementary lighting to create an
efficient and elegant option for the modern workplace.
“My
vision for the C Collection was to create simple, uncluttered lines
which appear geometrically iconic from any angle; all the while adding
a new, seemingly effortless, dimension to modern work spaces,” says
Behar. He notes that the C in the collection’s name denotes both the
collaborative nature of new work styles, and the curve or single arc
that is key to the design of each piece in the line.
HBF’s
Director of Design, Kevin Stark believes the functional aspect of the
collection reflects new ways in which people interact in today’s
workplace, citing changes in technology use and collaborative work
cultures. “Private offices and conference rooms will always be critical
elements of any office environment,” says Stark. “Now more informal
work areas are being added to the mix – and for these, the craft,
modernist vision and sheer adaptability of the C Collection work
brilliantly.”
Continuing
HBF’s commitment to being responsible global citizens, the entire C
Collection is crafted throughout in sustainable materials. Metal base
options on the lounge seating are standard with a low VOC, powder coat,
polished finish and also solid color painted finishes. Frames for Curve
lounge seating incorporate Green-Blend – a SCS certified 100%
pre-consumer, urea-formaldehyde free, recycled wood fiber panel
material – along with Popular plywood and Russian Birch. Soy bio-based
HR foam with 12-15% bio-base content is used for seating and emits no
harmful VOC’s.
The
C Collection is to be presented at this year’s International
Contemporary Furniture Fair, May 17-20 at the Jacob Javits Center in
New York City -- Booth 2218 and during NeoCon, June 9-11 at the
Merchandise Mart in Chicago -- Booth 387.
