Innermost Mantel Dome Clock

Protruding Clocks from Leo Yiu Chin Pong

These Insert Clocks from designer Leo Yiu Chun Pong seemingly protrude from the wall. Mounted to look like they were embedded (or the result of someone with some anger issues) this 3D modern clock is fun and eyecatching. (Better mount high enough so it is not noggin-catching to.) Modern Gift Idea- Chilewich iPhone Case

We're always looking for evidence that modern technology and design are working in sync. The Elan Form Chilewich case for iPhone 3G and 3GS is our latest find. It's the result of a collaboration between Griffin, manufacturer of peripherals for iPhone, iPod, Mac, and PC, and Chilewich l Sultan LLC, design innovator of modern vinyl textiles.

Each half of the partnership brought to the project what it does best. Griffin created a durable and impact-resistant polycarbonate shell as the foundation of the case. Chilewich used its Mini Basketweave vinyl as the shell wrap. The result is a case that's both rugged and beautiful- and a great gift idea. About $40, available now through the Apple Store.

there should be a fabulous ash tray!

Back when I used to smoke, I would scour every store I entered for interesting ash trays. After a while I was simply looking for ANY ash trays. Oddly enough, I could never find them. Thankfully I had picked up two chrome pieces while vacationing in New England (of all places), because outside of the dreadful plastic numbers that lined the bars of less than charming establishments, none were to be found.

Thankfully Alessi understands that people still smoke -- and are happy to provide butts a chic place to rest.

P.S. -- Don't let the price tag intimidate you. This is roughly what you'd spend on gas money driving around to find a suitable substitute.
