Where are the women designers?

Bernice "Ray" Eames, Eileen Gray, Charlotte Perriand, Nanna Ditzel, Greta Magnusson Grossman and Gae Aulenti make up the Mothers of Modern Design. Notwithstanding that most made their names a century ago, just who is following in their footsteps? Young Angela Adams is certainly making a name for herself as she evolves from textiles to furnishings, but where are the rest of the women? The Association of Women Industrial Designers cajoles, educates, enthuses and otherwise looks to promote young women designers. Does the industry not appreciate the designs of women? Do women not produce marketable products? What is the reason for so few women in residential contemporary design?
