Caldera Cooktop
Make way for a new kind of cooking. Outdoor grill manufacturers made history when they squashed the propane vs. charcoal rivalry with the hybrid grill that quickly lights the coals using propane. Now, indoor chefs can look forward to a similar breakthrough in the longstanding electric or gas dispute. Caldera has some up with the Caldera "knobless" Touch Control Gas Cooktop, and say it has "the most powerful burners in America and the most gentle cycling simmer in America."
Caldera's created a touch sensitive range. So, they say, with the touch of a finger you get the power of gas and the accurate response of electric.
Sounds to us like the best of both worlds.

I have a Caldera Cooktop 2000 Series that ceased to work over 2 months ago. i have had an impossible time dealing with Caldera. They will not supply the needed replacement parts, answer phone calls or emails.
It is four years old. I would think twice about buyng anything from this company.

I'm having the same problem, central grill broke in parts and have been requesting a replacement since march 2008, it seems this grill problem is an ongoing issue.

Same problem - ordered parts in March, 2008; mailed them a check, they cashed it and parts have never been received. They apparently are not responding to BBB inquiries, so I have now opened a complaint with the State of Vermont Attorney General's office. I suspect that they have gone out of business and the owners are just in hiding. It's a shame - this cooktop is beautiful and works great - but it will be a piece of junk as soon as something breaks that can't be either fixed or lived with.

I have a caldera, cooktop looks good, but quality is not there, unable to contact the company, no response to phone calls or emails, unable to purchase replacement parts. I am not sure they are still in business.

I was able to reach a guy named Al who admits that the technology works, but was being manufactured as one-offs. They are now working to get the products into a routine production. He has replacement parts -- and assures me that they are very interested in remedying the situation. Please contact Al at [email protected] -- and let me know how you fare. -- Diane

Caldera is no more, as such. They lost the company on a bad business deal. I have yet to find out who bought their license. Parts are made in China. Caldera could not supply parts on time to the buyer. Poof. If you need parts, we are all in limbo. If anyone finds out, and I would think the retailers must know something especially if they have an existing inventory, please post the info.

Broken cook top. Emailed Al at [email protected] with my cell number. He called me back, asked that I send him $ 190.00 for the part and we will see if it comes?! There are no good phone numbers to call per Al.

Hi
Al and the original Caldera Corp is out of business. Why their web site is still running, I don't know. HOWEVER, Eurochef USA, importers and distributors of Ranges, Cook Tops and Ovens (including DeLonghi Major Applinaces, Fratelli Onofri and ILVE) have taken over the distribution and service of Caldera Cook Tops in the U.S. You may reach them by calling Toll Free 866-844-6566 for assistance or visit their website at www.eurochefusa.com
Thanks
Peter
