Danish Modern Dining

I grew up with Danish modern in our home; although unlike the teak and cherry that is so prevalent today, ours was from rich rosewood. At a young age I learned how the grains on table leaves would all match, how hinges were hidden and how seamless the craftsmanship was. Once the epitome of uber modern, Danish design is now the status symbol for a more conservative bent.
Quietly elegant and void of ornament, Danish dining is an acquired and quite sophisticated taste. But don't let the simplicity fool you. Look at the detail in this Skovby extension dining table: Leaves deftly fold and store within the table; the ends of the base are book-matched; edging is as smooth as silk.
Yes, it is nearly 60 -- and apparently just coming of age! check out our feature on Danish Dining is Hotter Than Ever!
