Not Ready for the Home of the Future?

PowersaverI’m not so sure about the Home to the Future, below, it seems like a place where our lives are centered around media options provided by Time Warner. You don't have to ever let a silly conversation with friends or family interrupt you while you're watching TV. After all, spending quality time with your family is about silently staring at other people's fictional lives played out on large screens, just check out Time Warner's fully automated Family Room for evidence.

Maybe I'm behind the times, but I thought the Home to the Future would exhibit different priorities. Isn't the country stuck with overweight children gearing up to inherit a huge energy crises? For my buck the home of the future starts with innovations of the type Nevvus Corporation launched today.

It's called the Nevvus EnergySaver, a small energy storage unit that reduces power consumption in homes by up to 10% and more.

According to Nevvus, the EnergySaver reduces the amount of power drawn from utility companies by storing (in capacitors) otherwise lost electricity caused by inductive motors in home appliances (examples of inductive motors are air conditioning units, refrigerators, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, fans, etc.).

An excerpt from the Nevvus EnerySaver press release...

The EnergySaver greatly contributes to the environment. It is an earth friendly product that helps energy conservation while saving money for the household. In a matter of seconds, anyone can simply plug the unit into any wall outlet, turn it on, and start saving money. It is suitable for use in houses, condominiums, apartments, shops, restaurants, offices, small factories with 1 phase service.

EnergySaver features include:
Saving up to 10% and more on monthly utility bills.*
Paying for itself in less than one year.*
No Installation Required - Just plug it into any wall outlet and save.
Increased Motor and Appliance Life.
UL, CE and RoHS certified and Listed.
Reduction of Power Surges.
* Results may vary ** I Phase service

We haven't used this gadget yet, so we don't really know how well it works, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Find out more at Nevvus.com.
