An Evolution of Modern?
Cultivating a young modernist is oh so much easier when you sit their tushes into this chair with Flare from Boon, Inc. The Tempe, Ariz. firm touts that it gains influence from its Brood of Directors -- namely the five winsome daughters of CEO Ryan Fernandez and Chief Designer, Rebeca Finell (Finell's youngest is pictured above).
But what of this Flair chair -- with its pneumatic lift that makes raising little ones so much easier? The standard chair with its plastic shell seat and base (the Elite has a stainless base) is so reminiscent of Eero Saarinen's Tulip chair (circa 1956). The better to slide up to the Tulip Table. Then again the curvy lines also reminded me of Verner Panton's chair.
So it is that this newest generation bears characteristics of its foreparents -- but with a unique personality of its own. If the clamoring to be a contest winner of a Mod*Mom giveaway is any indication, quite a few little ones will be sitting pretty.
