Prime Steakhouse Reno

-2

Old Homestead, the oldest steakhouse in New York City, just invested 1.5 million dollars in renovations, and this room is the centerpiece.  Careful readers of this blog will already know how I feel about blue and dining, but for those who don't: blue doesn't go with food. Nothing about the color connotes conviviality or appetite, it's more evocative of calmness and tranquility. Maybe they think the red brick balances that vibe.

Anyway, this room is called The Schnabel Room, after the artist and filmmaker Julian whose works adorn the walls, and who also designed the interior of the Grammercy Park Hotel.

The word "prime" painted on the wall was uncovered during the renovations and was left as homage to the former Meatpacking District. To me, that and the photography are the most notable points. As for the rest, it's kind of a jumbled mess, isn't it?

I'm not a food critic and love BK cheeseburgers :) So for what its worth here's my 2 cents :) I like blue and wouldn't mind eating around a blue decor. It may not be aesthetically pleasing for a formal eating area but I don't think it would ruin my appetite.

thanks
