Run for shelter
Looking for protection from harsh summer rays? Or, if you live in my neck of the woods, summer showers?
The architecture studio Bestetti Associati teamed up with furniture manufacturer Paola Lenti to create “a contemporary architectural structure, designed to be the ultimate protection from the elements.” “Cabanne is a modular system, allowing for endless possible architectural solutions tailored to the spaces, the situations, the requirements,” according to Paola Lenti.

TepanGrill Table
Take the art of Tepanyaki out of the restaurant and into the home with the TepanGrill Table by Troy Adams Design.
This unique outdoor dining table with built-in stainless steel cooktop is shown in honed absolute black granite, but it can be custom built in any material or size. The infrared heat from the grill has a similar effect to that of traditional coal charcoal, eliminating the smoky effect. The grill has a downdraft ventilator to eliminate smoke, grease and other cooking odors. Dual heating from the direct heat of natural charcoal and the radiant heat also adds to the remarkable flavor of the food. Suitable not only for Yakiniku and steak, but also for seafood. Dimensions shown are 30” tall and 4’ x 4’ wide. Retails for $14,500.

DWR Catches On
Dear DWR,
Thanks for letting us know about your latest "innovation." We understand your excitement and wish you the best, but really, custom fabrics? Isn't it about time? The biggest impact this announcement made was surprise that these options weren't already available.
Partnering with Maharam and Spinnybeck is a great idea. They're both leaders in the industry and have a bevy of modern and contemporary fabrics and leathers. Over 800 fabric choices! Over 900 leather choices! Almost 100 options in Ultrasuede! How could you have left these design choices out of reach for so long?
Well thank goodness the dark ages have passed, because we've been saying it for years: Modern style is all about customization!
Kudos to you, even if it's a little late.

Not just for chocolate
In a world where consumer goods are produced with such haste that they lose their quality, the label “Made in Switzerland” becomes more convincing. Laufen, the first manufacturer of ceramic bath furnishings in Switzerland, introduces a new timeless design with dual functionality.
Anyone living with a mate know that the bathroom can often be a battleground. The Double Countertop Washbasin, as part of the Vienna Collection, hopes to lessen quarrels and amp up style.

Hang it up
Don't let the sunny, carefree days of summer fool you. Fall is right around the corner, along with fall coats. And unless you live in a frat house, it is not acceptable to dump them over the arm of a chair. You're a grown-up now. Time for a coat rack.
Inspired by a ribbon blowing in the wind, the Ribbon wall-mounted coat rack bridges the gap between function and art. It is a practical, everyday storage solution when in use, and sculptural wall art when free from coats. It can hold 5 coats, plus scares, umbrellas, etc. and comes with color-matching screws for a seamless finish. Handmade by craftsmen, no two units are identical.
