Modern Magazine Rack

Mod magazine rack German manufacturer Reisenthel continues to impress us with its modern solutions to mundane problems. This time they focus on magazine clutter with great results. The solution is its Big Eye Magazine Rack. A textile pocket that hangs from the wall by secure metal grommets, this space saver is even strong enough to hold those huge fall style issues. There's a slot for your illusive reading glasses to boot.

Felt Up this fall

Even though it's only August, and summer seems to have just arrived, I am ready for fall! I want rich color and texture -- and not just in my clothing.

Does anything sound better than folding yourself into the Felt Up chair on a crisp autumn day with a mug of hot cider?

Felt Up

With room for two, the cozy felt is available in one of fall's hot hues -- blue-gray.

Mickey Jackson Mouse

-1 -2

Meet Mickey Jackson Mouse.

Artwork by atelier Alessio Blanco ( www.aab.altervista.org ) for Walt Disney Company, the designer says MJM was created a few weeks before Michael Jackson died and it's now showing at Times Square in Hong Kong for Disney's "Bloc Mickey" event.

Mickey Jackson Mouse is created from the idea that Mickey Mouse is an anthropomorphic mouse wating to look like a man so much that he is resorting to plastic surgery.  atelier Alessio Blanco says,

"This sets a deal with Mickey and Michael, even for the assonance of names, though we could have never pictured what would happen few day after its creation. The artwork is just intended to be ironic and is assuming a new connotation about the role of plastic surgery in modern society even if the artist never wanted to make a direct reference to the King of Pop."

What do you think of the timing?

Go Speedracer - Modern Car for Tots

F_13877

This is the only classic race car of world class design that's 100% low-maintenance. Of course, it's for toddlers and lacks an engine, but these are the same attributes that make this beauty much more affordable than its grown up counterparts. This $120 vehicle can be parked in your living room, piloted by your child and may even give junior a head start on those teen age punishments looming in the future- he'll already know how to wash a car.

Available through DWR.

Round about

I just discovered this -- the Original Circle Kitchen, a revolving, compact, full-functional kitchen!

Nothing makes me, the hyper-organized, clutter-phobic, happier than a kitchen that can be closed up at the end of the day!

LED Modern Bamboo Garden Lighting

IMAGE_3753--4a255d29c95c7

Using the form of bamboo trunks as inspiration, this design is the postmodern version of a Zen garden that works as lamp and as interior divider. The design has an aluminum base that holds the trunks, which are formed by a repeated module made of translucent flexible acrylic set up as screen.

Each trunk is held to the base through the hidden metallic structure that holds to the modules and the electrical system. The trunks are slightly flexible, creating harmonic movements in contact with the wind, allowing the hit of the trunks that generates a soft percussion as background music.

It's an idea in LED lighting found on led-emotionalize.
